SCANSHIELD

was founded to address the need today for more advanced diagnostic and screening techniques. Scan Shield provides state of the art Magnetic Resonance Imaging scans (MRI`s) for both the purpose of diagnosing pre-existing disease and also for screening healthy adults for unknown disease.

Scan Shield has 3 main aims:

1. Prevention and early detection of disease

2. Social responsibility through generating revenue for the NHS

3. Ensuring the safety of our patients at all times

Prevention

Whilst we all know that prevention is better than cure unfortunately not all disease can be prevented.

In the case of many serious illnesses such as cancer there is a simple correlation between early detection and survival rates. To put it simply the earlier you detect disease the more likely it is that it can be cured. Unfortunately with many conditions survival rates remain low because by the time the disease manifests itself with signs and symptoms it is already too late.

Scan Shield offers proactive medical imaging where we scan an individual's whole body for disease. We do this to catch disease at an early stage before the patient is even aware that something is wrong.

Social Responsibility

One of our fundamental beliefs here at Scan Shield is that everyone should have access to healthcare services.

Unfortunately the NHS cannot afford to provide many of the advanced screening services that people in our increasingly health aware society would like.

Scan Shield helps to make money for the NHS as through our partnerships with NHS Trusts and Boards we use NHS equipment in NHS hospitals to deliver our services.

This equipment would otherwise sit idle and so no NHS patients lose out and we are able to generate substantial additional revenue for the NHS which goes to helping all patients across the country.

Safety

At Scan Shield we only use Magnetic Resonance Imaging. This is a safe and effective way to scan the body. MRI is safe as it uses high strength electromagnetic fields to produce images of the body and these electromagnetic fields have no known side effects.

Unlike many of our competitors at Scan Shield we only use MRI scanners. Some of our competitors use Computerised Tomography (CT or CAT) scanners which due to their use of harmful ionising radiation can actually contribute towards causing cancer.

Here at Scan Shield we believe in the fundamental tenants of the Hippocratic Oath especially that of "do no harm".
